Structured to deliver authentic hands-on experience, the program integrates comprehensive training sessions, invaluable NGO placements, and an immersive social service camp. Students will cultivate a profound understanding of pressing social issues, particularly those affecting marginalized and disadvantaged communities, and actively participate in initiatives aimed at reducing deep-seated inequalities.
Beyond practical engagement, this internship meticulously fosters the development of crucial personal and social skills, essential for effective teamwork and community collaboration. It also instills foundational training in volunteerism, deepens comprehension of the SDGs, and cultivates a strong sense of civic responsibility, all in alignment with Global Goals. Learning is continuously enriched through structured reflection and sharing sessions, meticulously guided by experienced Social Work supervisors from KMC.
Program Structure
The program commences with intensive training modules covering social service principles, the essence of volunteerism, the Sustainable Development Goals, and the pivotal role of youth in achieving them. These dynamic sessions are expertly led by specialists from the Kadambari Centre of Research, Development and Innovation (CRDI).
Following this foundational training, students are thoughtfully placed in various partner NGOs. Here, they will immerse themselves in real-world projects, collaborating directly with project teams and providing essential support to community-focused initiatives. Throughout their NGO placement, students benefit from continuous, dedicated supervision by seasoned Social Work supervisors from KMC, ensuring a consistently supportive and enriching learning journey.
To maximize impact and engagement, the KMC team strategically plans and organizes a five-day social service camp, the timing of which is determined by the number of participating students. This camp offers an unparalleled immersive group experience. The program culminates with students presenting their accumulated learning and invaluable insights to the KMC team, after which they are proudly awarded a certificate of completion, recognizing their significant contributions and dedicated achievements.

Why Kadambari Memorial College in this initiative?
KMC stands as a pioneer school of social work in Nepal, having proudly offered Bachelor and Master programs in social work through Purbanchal University since 2005. Our core mission is to meticulously nurture young minds, transforming them into professional social workers who serve as invaluable instruments for fostering just societies. We have steadfastly dedicated ourselves to this mission, bolstered by the unwavering support of our esteemed NGO fieldwork educators for over 17 years.
In light of the current challenges faced by social science and humanities studies in attracting young Nepali students for university enrollment—a trend that unfortunately curtails the potential for youth to choose careers in social development—Kadambari is proactively striving to open new avenues. This initiative aims to provide young people with direct exposure to social realities, thereby cultivating profound empathy and a robust sense of responsibility crucial for building truly sustainable societies.
Why NGO partnership in this initiative?
The profound success of Kadambari's social work program has been intrinsically linked to the invaluable internship experiences its students gain within numerous NGOs. Over our 17 years of dedicated partnership with various NGOs, we have consistently observed that the comprehensive training young people acquire in these organizations, coupled with expert and continuous supervision, profoundly shapes their perspectives and capabilities.
Inspired by this proven model, we are committed to offering a similarly impactful experience to young students through a structured volunteering framework. This synergistic collaboration presents a unique opportunity for both the students and the partnering NGOs to deeply engage with and intimately understand Nepalese society and its multifaceted social issues, thereby cultivating an even stronger, more active sense of citizenship within Nepal.
