Dr. Nalini Lama

Dr. Nalini Lama is the coordinator of Centre of Research, Development and Innovation (CRDI) at Kadambari Memorial College, School of Social Work. She has completed her Ph.D. in Social Work (2018) at Visva-Bharati, India. Her thesis focused on the marginalized segment of the society i.e. the children of sex workers. She holds degree of Masters in Social Work (M.S.W), 2012 and Bachelor in Social Work (B.S.W), 2010 from Visva-Bharati, India. This gives her a strong foundation on Social Work education and practice.

She was awarded Research Fellowship (Junior Research Fellow and Senior Research Fellow respectively) by University Grants Commission, India. She also qualified national level examination on Social Work conducted by UGC, India.

While doing research, she also worked as a guest faculty, teaching MSW students in Netaji Subhash Open University, West Bengal. After completion of her Ph.D., she worked in collaboration with General Practitioners. This opened a platform for her to become a member of WONCA (World Organization of Family Doctors). She has presented papers along with General Practitioners in many WONCA conferences. She believes studying health is not just about physical or mental condition but also a social aspect. This paved her way to travel from India (birth place) to Nepal to study on menstrual health Chhaupadi and it was then that she was introduced to Kadambari Memorial College. Her interest, publications and experience on research not just confined to social work but also multidisciplinary research put her now to a position of Coordinator of Centre of Research, Development and Innovation at Kadambari Memorial College.
