Biography:

Dr. Marleny M. Bonnycastle is an Associate Professor at the University of Manitoba, Faculty of Social Work.  She has worked at the three faculty campuses and distance education social work programs. Marleny teaches at the undergraduate and graduate social work levels, including courses on feminist perspectives, anti-oppressive social work practices, social policy, community social work practices and research. Her continuing program of research centers on Community-Based Participatory Research, including community engagement, development, and mobilizing. She has experience in the use of qualitative and participatory methods across several projects focused on fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD), housing and homelessness, immigrants and refugees, Indigenous, women, and other structural disadvantaged groups. Most of her projects have been collaborative and in partnership with other researchers and community organizations.  Marleny is also a Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives Manitoba Research Associate, and The Small Earth Nepal Adjunct Researcher. Dr. Bonnycastle has contributed to the Kadambari Memorial College since 2015 through the development of research and community development workshops, co-facilitating the Community Engagement Conference and co-presenting at international conferences.
