**Youth Community Engagement Initiatives** Building Volunteerism and Social Responsibility and Developing character “I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something; and because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do something that I can do.” Helen Keller The idea of youth in community engagement is not a recent phenomenon. It has been developed, debated and advocated over the last decade by higher education scholars, policy organizations, foundations, and institutional leaders in numerous writings and presentations. Through all the works, it has been proved that the students involvement with communities during their university years expand the scope and reach to enrich self from experiential learning. In the last 11 years experience in educating young people of Nepal and aboard through the delivery of Bachelor of Social Work , we have connected many people with rewarding volunteering opportunities . Kadambari College has established” Friends of Social Workers” to create a more sustainable, focused, development approach to social services through volunteerism. Friends of Social Workers is an initiative that aims to increase volunteers' skills and experience by connecting the existing skills, enthusiasm and willingness of young people to make a difference with the experiences and expertise in social work and community engagement. It aims to develop and enhance skills, promote community opportunities and encourage the formation of positive, fulfilling and lasting relationships. **Activities ** The activities are based on the three thematic areas with contact classes from Kadambari College and 90-100 hours. Of community service. 1. Foundation Course: Knowing self , volunteerism and principles of community engagements 2. Applied Course: community engagement with different individual , group or institution/ agencies . 3. Practice course: self reflection, report writing, presentation **Participants**  Young people from age of 18 to 28. **Dates and Venue** Duration: 3 months.
